Privacy Policy
At Vaulternix, we do not want your data. We do not store your data. We cannot sell your data. This policy details exactly what we don't do.
01. No Data Collection
Vaulternix operates on a Zero-Knowledge Architecture. Unlike traditional web applications, we do not maintain a database of user messages, files, or identities.
When you use our services (The Lobby, Flash Chat, Ghost Drop, etc.), all encryption keys are generated locally in your browser's Random Access Memory (RAM). These keys are never transmitted to our servers in a format that we can read.
- We do not log IP addresses associated with specific chat sessions.
- We do not store chat logs on persistent storage (hard drives).
- We do not use tracking pixels or third-party analytics that de-anonymize users.
02. Ephemeral Nature
All data transmitted via Vaulternix is ephemeral.
Definition of "Ephemeral":
Existing only for a short time; short-lived. In computing terms, data that exists in Volatile Memory and is lost upon power cycle or process termination.
Once a chat session is closed, or the browser tab is refreshed, the cryptographic keys required to decrypt the conversation are destroyed. Recovery of this data is mathematically impossible, even for us.
03. Peer-to-Peer (WebRTC)
Tools like "Ghost Drop" and "The Lobby" utilize WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) to establish direct connections between users.
Signaling Data: To establish a connection, minimal metadata (SDP and ICE candidates) must be exchanged via a signaling server. This data is purely technical routing information and contains no user content. It is not stored.
IP Leakage Risk: By the nature of P2P technology, your IP address is visible to the person you are connecting with (but not necessarily to us). If you require total IP anonymity from your peer, you must use a VPN or Tor.
04. Government Requests & Law Enforcement
We comply with the law, but we cannot comply with the impossible.
If Vaulternix receives a subpoena, warrant, or court order compelling us to disclose user data, we will respond truthfully: We have no data to disclose.
We cannot decrypt messages. We cannot provide chat logs. We cannot provide timestamps of past conversations. This is not a policy decision; it is an architectural reality.
05. Cookies & Local Storage
We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
We may use localStorage or sessionStorage solely for functional purposes (e.g., remembering your preferred theme or generating a temporary session ID). This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
06. Third-Party Links
Vaulternix may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Once you leave our domain, this policy no longer applies.
07. Changes to Policy
We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. However, we pledge that we will never change the fundamental "Zero-Knowledge" nature of the service without explicit, prominent notice.
